Will the real Jesus please stand up?

I’m grateful to Fr. Levis for mentoring me as a catechist; little did I know he was also helping prepare me for evangelization and catechetical leadership.

The late Fr. Bob Levis opened my eyes to the fact that the authentic Jesus of Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition is sometimes not the Jesus we create in our own image and likeness to justify an economic, sexual, or political stance. I’m grateful to Fr. Levis for mentoring me as a catechist; little did I know he was also helping prepare me for evangelization and catechetical leadership. Distinguishing Jesus from imposters disguised as angels of light helps keep me between despair and presumption–in the realm of hope where catechists are called to live, praying for our own ongoing conversion while helping others grow in all virtue, always by God’s amazing grace and divine mercy! 😊
